Kondwa Day Center - Frequently Asked Questions

Who can attend Kondwa?

Kondwa tries to admit the children with the greatest need. Priority is given to children who have lost both parents or a mother, and whose current guardians are without any source of income.

What Problems do the Orphans Have Upon Arrival?

All the children have suffered the trauma of losing one or both parents.

In addition, because they come from impoverished homes, they may be malnourished or need medical attention.

Basic education and simple acceptance and love are also important needs.

How are children's lives improved by Kondwa?

  • Increased health through an improved diet
  • Wellness from better medical attention
  • A sense of belonging
  • Better behavior from being in a stable and loving environment
  • Better performance in formal government schools after Kondwa

What are Kondwa's plans for the future?

Kondwa has already expanded since it's inception with 30 students to now admit 90 students. Because of the high demand for child services in the community, Kondwa is looking to build a new Primary School for grades 1-7. Kondwa would also like to expand its programs to help adults and caregivers, such as the Counseling Workshop for Caregivers given in Oct of 2004..
