$150,000 Building Costs

This is our target fundraising amout (in US dollars) based on the Zambian building cost estimates for Kachele Primary school.

Here is the breakdown of the facilites and their costs:

  • All seven classrooms ($10,000 per classroom for grades 1-7)
  • A kitchen for preparing meals for the studets ($15,000).
  • A storeroom for food and cooking supplies ($4,500).
  • 4 girls and 4 boys bathrooms that include toilets and showers ($3,500 per bathroom / $28,000 total).
  • 1 girls and 1 boys shower building ($3,500 each / $7,000 total).
  • A school office for teachers and administration ($5,500).
  • A security guard's house ($4,500).

Here are some other ways to look at the costs for the school:

Estimating 30 students per $10,000 classroom comes to only $333 per student. That is only a $30 a month donation!

Adding $50,000 for the yearly operational costs ($200,000 total / 210 students), that is less than $1000 per student (a $952) for the whole first year!
